Alternative Valentine’s Day Date Ideas: Off-Road Go-Karting

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, but if you are half of a couple who are bored of the whole cards, flowers, and candlelit meal deal, then it might be time to explore some far more interesting alternatives! Here’s a look at why you should make an exciting date with off-road karting or clay pigeon shooting rather than another dreary restaurant reservation.

Off-road go-karting

If you and your partner thrive on adrenaline and a bit of friendly competition, then off-road karting is the perfect way for you to bond. At our purpose-built 600 metre track through scenic woodland on the outskirts of Bristol, you’ll be able to test your driving skills to the limit.

The rough terrain involves thrilling twists and turns from start to finish, with plenty of opportunity for daring overtaking. Don’t worry if you’re new to the experience—full tuition will be given. If you prefer the idea of getting muddy at high speed rather than making chit chat over the dinner table, then book your session at our track today.

Clay pigeon shooting

Learning a new skill together can be a great way to bond with a partner, or if you already have the experience, it’s a chance to show off your abilities and really impress your date.

Clay pigeon shooting is a fun challenge where you will learn to take aim and fire at moving targets: a lot cooler than the usual Cupid’s arrow cliches of strolling hand in hand along a riverbank or whatever! It will provide you with a memorable day out, and give you something to talk about if you want to go for that candlelit dinner later on in the evening.

Other Valentine’s Day ideas in Bristol

If you want to combine some outdoor adventure with some sightseeing or more traditional Valentine’s Day activities, there’s plenty of choice. Here are a few ideas.

Clifton Suspension Bridge

If you are looking for a dramatic location to pop the question, look no further than the stunning Clifton Suspension Bridge over the Avon Gorge. It’s a masterpiece of 19th century engineering designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and is particularly beautiful when lit up at night time. In daylight, you’ll have splendid views over the gorge and beyond.

Cheddar Gorge

A short drive from Bristol is Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, where you can explore the underground show caves and wonder at the stalagmite and stalactite formations that have existed for over 500,000 years. You’ll also see some actual Cheddar Cheese maturing in the caves!

There’s a clifftip top around the gorge where you can take in the views from Pulpit Rock, and venture up Jacob’s ladder to the Lookout Tower. From here, you’ll be able to take in panoramic views of the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels, and discover the amazing story of Cheddar Man.
