Clay Shooting
Clay pigeon shooting is an exhilarating outdoor sport that will test your skills as you take aim at moving clay targets. At our Bristol shooting range, you will be under the eye of friendly and experienced instructors as you learn the correct techniques for handling the guns and making accurate shots.
In our scenic and spacious woodland layout there are five different shooting stands, so even on the busiest days there will be no waiting around and your group will always stay together. You will have an authentic experience shooting at targets launched from automatic traps using high quality 12-bore and 20-bore competition standard guns.
The activity is suitable for people with all levels of experience, from complete beginners to seasoned pros. Our shooting range is conveniently located just a ten minute drive away from Bristol city centre.

How the event works
You’ll be welcomed on arrival with free tea or coffee, and we’ll talk you through the health and safety rules. The instructors will provide you with one to one tuition on how to handle a shotgun and shoot at moving targets. Larger groups will be split into smaller groups of one to six per instructor, but we will not mix you with other groups.
Shooting takes place across five covered stands set in mature woodland. Each stand presents different challenges as you shoot at clays thrown from automatic traps with varying heights and trajectories. Clay is thrown towards you into the air and will stop about 40 feet in front of you. Easy to see and easiest to hit. You can select a package of 30, 40, or 50 clays across all stands. Team members will be given a score card to record each shot. When it’s all over, there’s a gold, silver and bronze medal presentation for the three highest scorers in your team to encourage a bit of friendly competition!

What You Need To Know About Clay Pigeon Shooting :
What should I wear for clay pigeon shooting?
Dress for the weather, with sturdy footwear. Avoid bulky jackets or baggy clothes, as these will make it difficult to position the gun properly. You will be provided with ear and eye protection that must be worn at all times. A hat is useful to protect yourself from stray clay fragments.
How do you shoot clay pigeons?
Determine your most accurate eye, and stand with your dominant foot forward with the weight on it to help you stay steady. Mount the gun on your shoulder and hold it firmly. Stay calm as you track the clay and shoot as the clay is rising to allow for lead time. Rabbit clay is propelled along a rubber mat, you must keep your gun swinging to hit this clay. Clay thrown vertical into the air in front of you, it is called a rising teal.
What age do you need to be for clay pigeon shooting?
The minimum age for clay pigeon shooting is 13 years, and any person 16 years or under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families with teenage children are welcome, as we are sure they will find a visit to our shooting range to be an exciting and rewarding experience.
In our picturesque woodland setting you will be clay pigeon shooting a variety of different sporting targets set off by our automatic traps. You will shoot on 5 different shooting stands on our sporting layout with names such as the High Pheasant, Driven Pheasant, Dropping Duck, Running Rabbit and Rising Teal will all become familiar to you as you shout "pull" and your target is released.
This is a real Clay Pigeon Shoot in a woodland layout, and it will be an adventure. Your group will not be split up doing other activities, as we have a large capacity to shoot on our layout. On Busy days there will not be queuing for shooting stands as we can shoot from 10 different shooting Stands. The equipment, 12 bore and 20 bore guns are Top competition standard. Our very experienced instructors are of high quality and you will be taught the correct way to shoot. There is always plenty of banter, if required!!
We can offer you tailor made clay pigeon shooting sessions to suit your own particular requirements, whether it be for a group of complete novices wanting to try a new sport, a novel stag or hen party, a group of serious "shooters", or a corporate team building day out.
We can cater for the individual or a large group of shooters group of up to 40 can be catered for, which will be split into groups of 5-6 people per instructor. For a group of 5 or 6 people it would take two hours for a 40-clay shoot. If you book a stag or hen group we do not mix you with other people you will have your instructors exclusive to your group.
